MATSURI
Every year in the middle of September we have a festival ,Ushijima Jinjya Matsuri; "Matsuri means festival", in Khaosan Tokyo's neighborhood.
About 40 poeple dressed in a traditional costume carry one portable shrine ,called "Mikoshi", go around the area singing out all together
and the poeple on the streets worship the shrine.
Every in 5 years, "Taisai" meaning "Main Matsuri"takes place and about 50 Mikoshi from all the different districts are carried; each district has their own mikoshi and they all get together in a point.
During the Matsuri they set up open-air stalls on the street, sell food, play games and singing performances.
In the last 2 years the staff members of Khaosan Tokyo Group participated in the singing performance , which is becoming like annual Khaosan's big event in the year.
And some of the Khaosan Guest's joined carrying Mikoshi with local poeple and could experience and feel the Japanese traditoinal culture.
